A Tough Fight

A hard fought battle occured when the Dallas Mavericks played against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Each team had plenty of choice words for each other and even the Mavericks owner Mark Cuban got involved.

“You look at Dirk,” said Cuban.”I’m not going to talk about other teams’ players, I guess other than what I just said, but Dirk for 15 years won 50 games no matter what. We put Moe, Larry and Curly next to him and we won 50 games. Russ is certainly an All-Star, but I consider Durant a superstar.”

These remarks by Cuban were atrocious and uncalled for. Russell Westbrook has proven that he is an All-Star by being the MVP  of the last two All-Star games. Westbrook also had the most triple-doubles this season as Earvin “Magic” Johnson.

Westbrook did not comment on the remarks of Cuban, but instead did his talking on the basketball court. The game following Westbrook had 36 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assist.

The Thunder players were asked about what they thought of Cuban statements. The question was proposed to Westbrook but Kevin Durant stopped Westbrook from answering and answered himself.

“He’s an idiot,” said Durant. “He’s an idiot. All right. That’s what we’ve got to say about that. He’s an idiot. Next question.”

The Thunder are heading to the next round after they defeated the Mavericks in five games. The Thunder will play against the the San Antonio Spurs.

Father Time

The Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs played each other in-game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.

Both teams came out slow missing shots. The Clippers started to get on a roll in the second quarter with J.J. Redick hitting shots and DeAndre Jordan blocking the Spurs shots with emphasis into the stands.

The Spurs played a pretty sluggish game and without their bench the final score would have been much worse than it ended up to be.

Blake Griffin had a huge game he had 26 points and 12 rebounds.  He also had two huge posterizing dunks on Spurs Aron Baynes in the 3rd quarter.

Chris Paul was a man on a mission last night. He made a couple of threes which is something he has worked on all season. Tony Parker could not guard him so Coach Popovich put Kawhi Leonard on Paul. He finished with 32 points and 6 assist.

Paul and Griffin both had a great game but the reason for the win was Jamal Crawford. After coming off an injury riddled regular Jamal Crawford came into the game off of the bench and scored 17 points for the Clippers. The former Six Man of the Year will need to keep up this pace of play for the Clippers to go deep into the playoffs.

The biggest contributor for the Spurs was their young star and Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard. He had 18 point and 6 rebounds.

Danny Green who is one the best three-point shooters in the league had one ice-cold night. He missed many wide open threes. The Spurs need much more help from their starting five if they want to have any chance at winning this series.

Tony Parker got pretty dinged up in this game.  Parker was only able to manufacture 10 points and 1 assist. He got hit with some hard screens from Jordan and Griffin.
